Tom Evans SVAA BOARD MEMBER / PRESIDENT
My ability to perform fine art became apparent in high school. I took an art class and give credit to the art instructor who inspired me to paint with acrylics. My very first painting I did was shown at a Southern California High School Student Art Expo. During college, I majored in art but I also took architecture classes considering this might be a better choice for a career. I eventually went onto graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture. During my early employment years with design firms I composed many colorful ink renderings for clients of which became a valuable asset to my employers. During my early career years I did not paint fine art. Once I settled into Simi Valley in 1991, I than began painting again. Most of my early paintings were given to family or hung on my walls.
I enjoy painting with oil and acrylic but I found my passion painting with pastels. Self-taught, I discovered how challenging but rewarding it is to paint with pastels. When I joined the Simi Valley Art Association in 2003 it made me more serious about the quality and value of my paintings. It took perseverance and patients to finally become an award-winning recognizable artist. In 2018, I accepted the position of President for the Simi Valley Art Association. This has expanded my experience and relationship with the art community, professional artists, and art programs to another level. I look forward to many more years of service with the Simi Valley Art Association and performing more creative fine art. Tom Evans (805) 558-5809 [email protected] |
