Stuart Mark Berlin

Artist's Statement

I am Stuart Mark Berlin, a self taught Fauvist landscape painter. I have had the good fortune of going to art museums from age five in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Paris and Amsterdam.

What always affected me the most was the tension between seeing colors up close and the images that appear at distance.  My paintings are like Rorshach tests, shapes and colors rearrange themselves in your mind.

Color is not just determined by mixing pigments, but by what colors are adjacent. My goal is to make colors pop.
