My husband and I met in our high school art class.  My husband went on to take an acrylic painting class at Moorpark College.  When my husband's class ended I took his paints and enrolled in a painting class, in adult education, taught by Anne Cannata.  My interest in painting grew stronger which motivated me to enroll in additional classes at Moorpark College and encouraged me to join the Simi Valley Art Association.

Our circumstances changed and we moved to a remote mountain cabin in the Sierra Nevadas.  We continued our art and we joined an art association in the foothill community of Porterville, CA. We both attended Porterville College where we took additional art classes and associated with and learned from local artists.  Our artwork was shown in galleries and shows in nearby communities.
Returning to Simi Valley seven years later, we found that the SVAA had become inactive.  I contacted artists that I remembered and together with Anne Cannata we were able to reorganize the SVAA.

I am happy to be part of the ongoing association and I believe that with continued support and participation by its members, the SVAA will continue as a haven of encouragement and growth for local artists.
